This type of breakthrough is why I love science. There are so many areas yet unexplored that we don’t even realize yet. I’m excited where this will take us. What I am cautious about is misdiagnosis. Maybe one day a patient will come in and collapse unconscious, breathless with no pulse and we’ll assume the worst when in fact they actually have one of these. Proper identification will be important if this pulseless heart replacement is going to take off since, as they noted, by all metrics, the patient would be clinically labelled dead.
