That’s not First Aid.

Lately, my checklist for residency has been growing with more and more items. The most recent  addition is ACLS and BLS training. Thankfully I have done these courses before so at most, a recertification is all that will be required.

This is about as true to life as you can possibly get to demonstrating how this kind of situation plays out. I recall the days of ACLS, where we learned and trained to run codes. While entirely applicable to rule life situations, nothing can every truly match the fast-paced, adrenaline-fueled moment of crisis of being in an actual code.

Not for the faint of heart, I will stop short of explaining what it is that happens in this video. You will just have to see it to believe it. After you watch it, the first question is inevitably how? The next question is of course why? To them I have no answers.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.

Fourth year is only three months away and part of the additional skills I need, besides renewing my CPR and First-Aid is to undergo ACLS training. 

This will begin in a few weeks’ time.
